Job Description

ABOUT THIS POSITION:

  

The successful candidate will design and develop complex graphics and illustrations for use in technical materials, manuals, and publications.  Operates computer hardware and software to prepare, revise, print and store text, illustrations, graphs, charts, etc.  May include operation of equipment, such as still cameras, for the design and production of photos.  Formulates concept and renders illustration and detail from models, sketches, memory, written or verbal instructions, and imagination.  Selects type, draws lettering, lays out material, or performs related duties.  Determines style, technique, and medium best suited to produce desired effects and conform to reproduction requirements, or follows specific instructions regarding these variables.

  • Create two-dimensional computer graphics which artistically represent materials used  in  support of equipment technical publications.
  • Interacts with Subject Matter Experts and technical publication writers as part of a  production team.
  • Designs and develops engineering and technical drawings and schematics in support of objectives.
  • Understands and adheres to art standards established for each project by coordinating layout and design of elements.
  • Exercises safe, mature, discretionary handling of GFE materials, sensitive materials (documents and equipment), and any end items used for training.


Qualifications

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Associates Degree in Graphic Design/Art, a related field or equivalent experience and 5 years related graphic design/illustration experience.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • At least 6 years of experience using Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and or SolidWorks to create graphics and illustrations for technical manual development.
  • Must demonstrate judgment and artistic skill when creating or updating line art from still photos and or engineering drawings.
  • Written Communication - The selected applicant should write clearly and informatively.  The selected applicant may edit work for spelling and grammar and use varies writing style to meet needs. The selected applicant may present numerical data effectively and should be able to read and interpret written information.
  • Teamwork - The selected applicant should be able to balance teams, individual responsibilities, exhibit objectivity, and openness to others' views. The selected applicant should be able to give and welcome feedback and contribute to building a positive team spirit. The selected applicant should put the success of team above own interests and focus on the teams commitments to goals and objectives. The selected applicant should support everyone's efforts to succeed and be considered an expert user with Adobe Acrobat and Microsoft Suite software.
